Financial Literacy
Westerra’s Financial Literacy Program (WFL) is a resource with the goal of empowering members and our community to navigate our constantly changing, often confusing, financial times.
In 1934 - 90 years ago - Westerra got our start as a credit union for teachers. Now we’re doing some educating ourselves through WFL.
WFL is one more way Westerra is building a stronger, more financially secure community. By making financial literacy a cornerstone of our members' financial journey, we ensure everyone has the tools and knowledge to thrive financially. Because we believe nothing offers better returns than compound intelligence.
From virtual and in-person seminars to classroom-based presentations to having information at your fingertips in the Zogo app, WFL features a diverse array of resources designed to make learning about personal finance engaging and accessible.
We recognize that financial literacy needs vary across different communities, demographics, and populations. Westerra is committed to providing tailored financial education programs that address the unique challenges faced by our diverse members, including low-income families, students, older-adults, and Spanish-speaking groups.
We have partnered with the app Zogo, which offers bite-sized lessons and interactive quizzes on various financial topics, rewarding users with gift cards and other incentives for their progress. By gamifying the educational experience, Zogo helps users of all ages build essential financial skills and knowledge in a fun and motivating way. Get started today to earn “Pineapple Points” towards earning rewards!
Westerra actively engages with the community through partnerships with local schools, non-profit organizations, and community groups. We offer workshops, seminars and one-on-one coaching sessions to extend financial education beyond our members to the broader community. To request a seminar or classroom presentation for your group, please contact engagament@westerracu.com.
Westerra offers both virtual and in-person financial seminars to improve your financial acumen and financial knowledge. Visit our events page to register and learn more about upcoming seminars.
